The particular phrase you chose ( at bar 64?) has what sounds like a flam on the second strike. Either drummers should 'bury' the beater or let it come back off the head entirely in order to avoid the 'double hit' IMHO. So often the engineer has to try to gate that unintentional rebound or use strip silence both of which reduce the kick's natural duration.

And what about the phase of 2 mikes? In the Exercise files the kick signal is already mixed. Did you shift the phases? It's very important - and didn't explained.
