The gear is patched, the tracks are ready to go, and it is time to continue on with the mix!
In the second episode of mixing "Sweet Beast" from "Illiterate Light", Vance uses his signature techniques to continue dialing in the sound.
Watch as Vance:
- Uses the B.A.S.E. to expand the width of the chorus guitars
- Uses a combination of the B.A.S.E and an Eventide H3000 on the vocal "Super Double"
- Adds a DBX 500 Subharmonic Synthesizer to the Sub Guitar Solo
- Auditions several rotary speaker plugins and the dials in the winner on the lead vocal
- Automates the speed of the rotary speaker for each section of the song
- Uses an H910 to add width to the vocal
- Adds multiple delay processors to the vocals to create movement and spread
- Creates a pseudo doubled vocal using AutoTune and ADT
- Sets up for automation passes on his SSL
Next week will bring the final episode from Sputnik Sound, where Vance will finish the mix, and print to his ATR 102 Tape Machine.

This is a general comment on site structure: I just watched the first episode of this start to finish series. Why can't I just have the second episode coming up next? Either automatically or at least make it easy for me to click on it. Why do I get unrelated "related" videos instead of the thing wich I want the most?
I want a list of the videos coming up next in this start to finish series on every single episode. Please!

Vance slays. I could listen to him all day. I might book a day down in his studio just to hang out!

When he put the vocal mic in on the drums at 18:00 I was instantly thinking D'yer Maker. Also, this guy is a master! I could watch him teach all day.

I clicked the link to download the exercise files, but all that was in there was the PT session. Are the stems in a separate link?

It's amazing how every single step keeps adding a bit to end sounding super great, Vance has a really worked out method, really nice to watch.
Es increíble como cada paso va agregando un poco para terminar sonando groso, Vance ha trabajado su método muy bien a lo largo del tiempo, es genial poder verlo
